TONY`S NEWS. In the absence of any club news , I will give you a quick rundown on the current state of automobiles at the “Gould” household . The youngest daughter is now 20, and at university, so her Ford Fiesta is currently SORN’d. The oldest daughter is now living in London so has done the “Green” thing and has bought a bicycle. (Dad has bought her mini and is currently doing a bit of work on it, but just to be able to sell it!!) Next it`s the youngest boy`s, he has returned from travelling and he is using my father’s old Peugeot 205.It had been laid up for a year whilst he was away, but needed minimal work to get it through an MOT. The oldest boy has got an `82 Mini which has seen a lot of money and hard work spent on it, not by me, but it looks the part. (See it in October 2006 edition of MiniWorld magazine). After a lot of work (and money) last year it`s finally back on the road, sporting a new colour and pushing 98bhp on the rolling road. This has had an engine rebore,stage 3 head, Jack Knight straight cut gearbox and a lot of blood, sweat and tears ! especially with the clutch. (Thanks Matt— http://www.miniwilliams.co.uk) Well I suppose I’d better let you in to the news, that after a break of about 5 years I have finally got myself a kit car again. It’s a Quantum 2+2 Sports, which I bought through e-bay ! I bought it with quite a few niggling electrical faults, but have managed to sort most of them out now. Did you see it at Le-mans 2006 ? :o)
Unfortunately I haven’t done any more work on the Bond Bug , probably waiting for retirement now!
We are still meeting at the Peak Lodge bar and restaurant. This is the pub next to the dry ski slope on Wherstead Hill, Ipswich, watch out for the ramp as you enter the car park if your car is really low.
The pub and grub nights really semed to have taken off, even though they`re the wrong time of the month for pay day. Any volunteers to arrange one of the nights ??
